The Story Behind The Name
Rambling Angler was a name I came up with when I was building fly rods and flies which I sold while traveling throughout Alaska as a helicopter mechanic back in the early 90’s. My vision was simple make as much money as I could in 6 months then take the next 6 months off and fish and I did this for 20 years.
I had a lot of time on my hands in Alaska sometimes living in a tent all summer sometimes in nice fishing lodges (the tent camps were way better ask me about them). During those long hours of free time I tied flies, built fishing rods and I wrote. I was alone with my thoughts and my dreams and it was great, it was a part of my life that I worked hard to see happen.
1. (of writing or speech) lengthy and confused or inconsequential. Usually about fishing and/or hunting.
2. (of a person) traveling from place to place; wandering.”a rambling man.”
Those that know me would say I am the epitome of a Rambling Angler as the definition goes (I added a little to Webster’s definition)
So there’s the story behind the name and those very rambling ways gave me freedom to roam and fish all over Alaska then back to Kentucky Lake and LBL to chase crappie, catfish, bluegills, bass and hunt Turkeys and the Whitetail deer with my bow.
I am an outdoor writer and chose close to home to settle down and begin a lifelong dream of becoming a fishing guide and freelance writer chasing the fish I chased all my life and share my experiences with others and whether it be just a day on the water or a lifetime of fishing fun my goal is to help you with either and hopefully create a lifelong fishing buddy with each and every one of my clients.
